Situated in the financial district of the west end of the city, the building is in a prime location. But since the building was completed the world of work has drastically changed. Increased mobility, new ways of collaborative working and climate challenges, aren’t addressed in the current design.
Building Renovation
Renovation plans including a new roof top extension, upgrading the façade and repositioning the entrance, accommodate these changes. And by improving the building’s thermal performance, it will be fully enabled for net zero carbon in operation. Targets include NABERS: 5*, BREEAM Outstanding, and Well Core & Shell Gold certification.
Interior Refurbishment
A comprehensive internal refurbishment will focus on improving the building’s ESG credentials. Co-working and collaboration space, health and well-being and social areas e.g. a rooftop amenity terrace with views to Edinburgh Castle, will be added. The repositioned entrance will create an attractive, welcoming reception and provide more leasable office space at ground level.
Energy Reduction
Most importantly, carbon emitting energy sources will be removed. Energy demand reduction measures will be introduced, with enhanced glazing and insulation installed to the existing frame.
