In a true depiction of what we do best, this project integrated our Consultancy, Architecture and Interior Design Services to deliver a well defined, well designed and comfortable new workplace for M&G.

The site at for this building at Kildean is located on the western edges of Stirling, adjacent to the Raploch area of the city and Castle Business Park. The west of the site where the building is located is defined by the winding loop of the River Forth that bounds it.

Our Consultancy Service

The Kildean HQ building was designed for M&G who were consolidating their existing campus into a smaller footprint. MLA’s Strategic Consultancy team were engaged by the client on a previous project to help develop an occupancy model which informed how they would mange the occupation of their workplaces going forward. The same model was implemented for the Kildean project and the Consultancy team were able to assess the space requirements of staff through a series of interviews and workshops. The rich data and anecdotal feedback captured from these sessions was invaluable to the client in demonstrating that the building had been designed to suit the needs of the varied staff groups. It also ensured that the building had flexibility to ebb and flow with new ways of working and future growth.

The design of this building has been developed with clear and uninterrupted floor space surrounding a central core with lifts, stairs and toilets. A triple height reception space marks the entrance to the building.

The stepped form creates entrance and café courtyards, providing spaces to socialise which blend into the surrounding landscape, whilst a distinctive palette of high-quality materials sets a benchmark for future development on the site.

Through consultation between MLA’s consultancy team and the tenant, M&G plc, we were able to design and deliver the CAT A & CAT B in tandem. The CAT A works provide a simple but beautiful container to offer flexibility in use, whilst the CAT B provides the client with a contemporary and modern working environment.
