Career Ready at MLA
Investing in the Next Generation
This summer MLA welcomed their second Career Ready intern for four weeks of paid work experience.
Part of an 18-month mentoring programme, Drumchapel High student Amrita Amrita has been supported by MLA architect, Elaine Stephens.
During the internship Amrita spent time in our Glasgow studio developing her design skills and learning about the different roles in our architecture and design practice.
In addition, joining a wider group of Career Ready companies, Amrita took part in a range of events and workshops. This year these included Diageo’s ‘Hackathon’, a communication skills workshop at BNP Paribas and speed networking at Morgan Stanley.
We look forward to continuing to support Amrita as she progresses towards her desired career in architecture.
About Career Ready
Career Ready is a UK wide social mobility charity supporting secondary school students in 5th and 6th year. The programme helps young people who face barriers linked to their socio-economic background build skills, confidence and a network to help them succeed.
Employers support the programme through monthly mentoring (in the workplace) and a four-week paid summer internship. This provides students essential experience and insight into the workplace.
