Government Support Secured for MIPIM Campaign

The Road to MIPIM 2027

Last week MLA and their partners in the campaign for Scotland’s return to MIPIM, received some very welcome news. A year and a half after launching the campaign, the Scottish Government has committed £100,000 of funding support towards a public-private partnership under the ‘Invest Scotland’ banner.

The funding, which will be matched by an initial £108,000 from private sector partners, forms part of a new collaboration between government and industry led through Real Estate: Scotland. The initiative aims to promote Scottish skills and investment opportunities internationally and support long-term economic growth.

For MLA, who helped launch the campaign in 2025, the announcement represents the culmination of months of industry collaboration and advocacy.

Scotland’s MIPIM Campaign Background

In spring 2025 MLA Director Hazel Pearson joined industry leaders including Stewart Rutherford of PMP and Jonathan Guthrie of Robertson Group to open up a conversation about Scotland’s absence from the conference. Bringing together representatives from across the public and private sectors, this kicked off a discussion about how Scotland could strengthen its international investment profile. The event attracted more than 100 delegates from across the property, development and investment community and helped build momentum behind a renewed, collaborative approach to MIPIM.

Taking a Collaborative Approach

Alongside PMP, Robertson Group, Brodies, Drum Property, Civic, Saffery and oobe, MLA became one of the founding organisations behind an initiative that led to a Scottish delegation at MIPIM 2026.

Hazel Pearson, Director at MLA, said:

This announcement is an important vote of confidence in Scotland’s ability to compete for international investment and tell a stronger story about the opportunities available across our towns, cities and regions.

The campaign has always been about bringing the public and private sectors together behind a shared ambition. Scotland has world-class expertise, an outstanding track record for innovation and investment, and a pipeline of projects capable of delivering meaningful economic and social value.

We’re proud to have played a leading role in helping bring industry together around that vision and welcome the Scottish Government’s commitment to supporting the next stage of the journey.”

Creating Investment Opportunities

The Scottish Government’s support also reflects the growing recognition that attracting investment requires a sustained, collaborative effort rather than a single event. The new programme will create opportunities for investors to engage directly with government, local authorities and industry leaders while promoting Scotland’s most significant investment opportunities on an international stage.

For MLA, the announcement is further evidence of the value of industry leadership and collaboration in shaping the future of Scotland’s built environment.

As plans move forward for MIPIM 2027 and beyond, MLA will continue to be one of the key private sector partners supporting this endeavour.
