Rosebank Distillery wins Mix Interiors Award 2024

Seven people, men and women holding winners trophy

Project of the Year Public and Cultural Interiors

MLA picked up another award for the fantastic Rosebank Distillery at the Mix Interiors North Awards in Manchester.

About Rosebank Distillery

Established in 1840, Rosebank was known as the ‘King of the Lowlands’ for its high-quality triple-distilled whisky. It  closed in 1993 and fell into disrepair until Ian MacLeod Distillers acquired the site in 2019 and enlisted MLA’s help in restoring the building.

Since new whisky needs time to mature, creating an experiential hospitality destination was key to the success of this project. Alongside brand home designer, Contagious, a concept was developed through in-depth workshops and community consultation. The addition of retail space, a presentation area, hospitality rooms and a fully accessible tour have made this a 5 star Visit Scotland visitor attraction.

Re-use of materials was driven by the design team’s commitment to minimise waste and maximise resource efficiency.  Slate, brick and timber recovered from downtakings were incorporated into the new design.

The historic distillery buildings have been seamlessly merged with a striking new build and a stunning interior that tells the incredible story of the much-loved Rosebank.
