OVO Energy for 'Project of the Year - Workplace Interiors - 30,000 to 70,000 sq ft'
Renewable energy company OVO’s ambition was to consolidate their Scotland team in a centrally located hub at Glasgow’s Cadworks building, as part of a rationalisation of their office estate to three core UK sites.
To promote interaction and wellbeing, the workspace was designed to be light, bright, flexible and fun. Incorporating a bold set of connecting staircases between four floors helped link teams and individuals and encourage movement and interaction. With a variety of worksettings and environments, the space provides a greater choice to colleagues and clients.
The result is the creation of a ‘magnet workspace’ that draws colleagues together with a relaxed, informal, and inviting home-from-home look and feel.

Design Practice of the Year 2024
This award is handed to standout design practices who have displayed an impactful approach to working within the past 12 months.
2024 has been a big year for MLA. Our Manchester office celebrated their first birthday with a BCO Regional awards win, a move to their new office as well as doubling their team. With projects for Evelyn Partners, TSB and NatWest this year alone, it has been a fantastic start in this new location.
The whole practice celebrated 70 years in business in September with a party in Edinburgh. Clients and friends joined us to look back on notable projects and look forward to the future plans for MLA. We had the opportunity to share news of our re-brand which was announced a few weeks later with our new name, branding and website.
In addition the business is trialling a 9 Day Fortnight working practice for the next six months. Full time workers can contract their hours across nine days to enjoy a ‘non-working day’ once a fortnight. This is also extended to our remote workers which includes team members in Portugal, Norway, Canada and the Czech Republic.
Rosebank Distillery for 'Project of the Year - Public Sector & Cultural Interiors
Established in 1840, Rosebank was known as the ‘King of the Lowlands’, but when the business closed in 1993 the distillery fell into disrepair.
Ian MacLeod distillers acquired it in 2019 when half the site contained listed warehouse buildings, but others were beyond repair.
With passion and perseverance, a dedicated collaborative team restored the building as a working distillery and visitor attraction. The restoration has secured new jobs in distilling, retail and tourism and supports local suppliers.
It opened in June 2024 and is expected to welcome up to 50,000 visitors per year, significantly enhancing the local tourism offer.
This nomination is shared jointly with brand designers, Contagious.
